If you like music and you like colors also, you will find the new campaign for Gap's Spring 2008 collection very nice.

Gap, the big American clothing company, together with the production company Rehab, approached five bands and singers and asked them to write a song based on a specific colour.
So we have The Blakes with blue, Dntel of The Postal Service with red, Swizz Beats was given green, lovely Marié Digby took on yellow and The Raveonettes opted for black/white.

Once all the songs were completed, five directors took on the job to create videos to accompany them, with just a rule in mind - that the video they create should reflect the colour associated with the track they've been given. The rest was up to the directors.

So as a result we can enjoy a dedicated website - SOUND OF COLOR with all the videos, making ofs, interviews, information about the bands and very useful information about the colours too. Also the songs can be downloaded to be enjoyed offline too (while on the subway maybe).
I like the most Marié Digby's song and also the very simple and nice video.

Great project to promote the Gap brand while promoting some indie artists, simply promoting colors and making original content.
And although I don't buy Gap, I like this kind of stuff and the brand.

The "old" CD format had its 25th birthday, Wacom celebrated their 25th anniversary introducing Intuos3 Special Edition pen tablet (and changed the identity), Google is today entering it's 9th year of online search domination, as we all can see.

Adriana - a very good friend - will have her birthday in a few days (we already celebrated with her last night).

Sunt curios cand vad ceva nou. Si cumpar...

Am vazut ca Esquire si-a schimbat un pic masthead-ul...logo-ul ca sa fiu mai bine inteles.
Si ca a aparut si in Romania acum.

Coperta seamana izbitor de mult cu alte doua de la pagina 7: Robert Downey Jr. si Brad. Ah da, trei - si cu Hilary.

Are prea multe reclame cu ceasuri.
Cei de la Ursus si-au permis sa emboseze pagina reclamei lor, cu sigla Ursus, pe sticla din reclama. 10 beri!
Si ascult "Primele simptome" - Cheloo.

Nu lipseste articolul despre bloguri.
Iar cele traduse din editia americana sunt bune. O citesc "pe net" si pe cea americana si reproducerile sunt foarte bune pe alocuri.

Clooney apare si pe coperta si pe verso, intr-o reclama la Omega. Apoi incep cu sfarsitul revistei cum fac de obicei si descopar pe Branea la pagina 120. Surprinzator! Clap! clap! clap! pentru Branea. Si tot respectul pentru "intruziunile" lui pe la colturi pe acolo.

Apoi aflu ca defapt Clooney e ambasador Omega si a declarat ca facea fake-uri Omega in adolescenta.
Ascult Louis Armstrong cu "Black and blue".

Citesc articolul despre Christina Ricci. Observ decoratiile discrete de la "Ricci" si "e un" pe pagina urmatoare. Sunt in plus.
Rasfoiesc apoi rapid mai multe pagini deodata si ajung la 97. Aflu ca, citez, "Andreea Marin e o sotie mai buna pentru Stefan Banica Jr. decat Mihaela Radulescu" si raman putin surprins.

Mai dau alte cateva pagini inapoi si ajung la reclama Ursus amintita mai sus. Buna domnule!

Inapoi...aflu despre inca un proiect imobiliar probabil: Liziera - Locul care te inspira. Sau nu.
De departe cea mai proasta reclama posibila intr-o revista de genul asta. Nume stupid, slogan total nepotrivit, vizualul penibil (da, se vede ca cerbul ala e impaiat!), copy-ul din alta reclama probabil...
Asta ca sa termin cu partea de critica de ad-uri.

Poate are nevoie de mai multe articole romanesti.
Dar parca si de "ale noastre" m-am saturat...
Poate e mai bine asa si oamenii din spatele editiei romanesti chiar stiu ce fac. Sa speram!

Esquire vine sa umple golul lasat si de revista Class pana la un punct cred, pentru unii.
E o placere de citit. Isi merita banii.

A crazy week

Really, this was a crazy and busy week.
Lots of stuff happened at work, at home, in Romania and the world.

Need to finish a website and also an offline application for managing medical events. Then a new identity for the next big thing on the Romanian executive search market.
Plus the regular quick&dirty daily projects...at work.

Freelancing for a major foods company in Romania, starting work for a local online IT store onto developing a new online brand. Then a new wine brand that will deal a lot with artists.

Listening to The Game, Bliss, Tracey Thorn, Shivaree and Kanye West's new shit (50 Cent is in trouble, 'cuz he promised that if Kanye were to outsell him, he'd retire). Then listening to all the clients and also my mom, to get more sleep and eat more.

On the Romanian scene, BrandTailors, a Romanian branding consultancy, released their website and caused quite a stir and I discovered a fellow "oltean" doing some decent stuff - Giltist.
Rospotline relaunched their new identity and website. Welcome back!
Also, Imagoo, an advertising magazine that went online and then was killed by Vodanet shortly after, it seems it will make a comeback soon and I'm waiting to see what they will be releasing.

Watched "The Apprentice 4" on Antena3 and seen Randal get the job, although I though that Trump should have hired Randal and Rebecca both. This was the first time I watched TV in a while.

Wasted a full pen in just under a week, on writing and drawing and sketching.

Plus, some worldwide news:
- in China, it was released a copycat of iPhone running Windows.
- Encylopaedia Britannica is wrong and Wikipedia can prove it.
- no more fixed calls, as it seems that by next year half of all voice calls in Europe will originate from mobile phones; for me, fixed phones are old news, because it's been 2 years since I used one and I've used only my mobile for conversations and here is the research report to read further if you're interested.
- Youtube will pay royalties for UK songwriters who have their songs used in videos on the UK website.
- Sony has announced that it will close Connect, its online music store by Spring 2008, admitting defeat at the hands of Apple's iTunes online store (with a 80% market share!), but it will release more mp3 players soon for the Windows Media Player platform.

Then in the advertising world, Virgin made a bad choice in Australia with their latest advertising campaign, taking photos from Flickr without permission and mocking them. The blogging community is mad at Virgin for this, as it should be!

I'm also working on various projects for LAUNCH and preparing to launch some nice stuff soon.
